Rides - Events - Classes

Check this page often for updated listings of all types of cycling events in and around our area. Rides require, at minimum, an appropriate bike in good working order, water, and a helmet. We suggest a spare tube, energy food, maybe a little cash in case we stop, and your biggest smile! Many rides are held subject to weather. It's a good idea to confirm dates, time and any specific requirements, too. We'll see you out there — and have fun!

Our Weekly Group Rides

Join us and other bike clubs on one of these fun rides. Whether you are new to cycling or an old pro, there is a ride that's right for you.

We gear this to beginner riders. The pace will not exceed 15mph,but we slow down to the slowest rider. Distance never exceeds 30 miles. We are happy to shorten the ride to accomodate new riders.

The A- group normally ventures off the trail and hits the open road for a 41 : 65 miler. Slower riders are welcome to ride the trail for 30 miles at their own pace. Second Saturday

10:00 a.m.

Every Second Saturday, Family Friendly, Slow Ride. Total mileage is 10 miles. Ride starts at 10 am and end around 12pm. The ride starts at 1314 W. Union Street at N. Myrtle Ave., one block from Engine 15 Brewery. There will be a brief bicycle safety discussion prior to heading out on the trail. Be prepared, bring a repair kit for flats, water bottle, lock and appropriate attire for a great ride. We ride at a social pace, and welcome riders of all ages and experience levels. The trail is approximately 5 miles long from end to end, feel free to ride all of it with us or turn around as you wish. We often meet-up for lunch afterwards, at a local park or cafe. Downhill Colorado Rockies by Vacation Bicycling

Each day ride from a higher elevation then you end, riding a downhill grade. Unpack only one time! We stay at the same hotel for the entire bicycle tour. Enjoy the beautiful scenery (including the one pictured above that was taken with a camera phone) breathe in the fresh air, experience the low humidity and take delight in the laid back feeling of the Rocky Mountains. Many participants have said it was one of their best bicycle tour they have ever joined in the United States. The other fascinating part of riding in the Rockies is the majority of each day ride is on dedicated paved bike paths that are free of obstructions to allow you to enjoy the scenery while biking. Ride next to rivers and streams as you both view and hear nature all around you and give you a definite sense of place. Visit up-close and experience the many famous cities you have read or heard mentioned from friends and neighbors, including Aspen, Breckenridge, Copper, Eagle, Frisco, Glenwood Springs and Vail.

Tour De Cure

The Tour De Cure is a run, walk, OR cycle event that highlights the importance of physical fitness in preventing and managing diabetes. Participants have a choice of routes that encompass everything from a family-friendly 15-mile ride or 5K walk, to a challenging 72-mile ride. Since the event will be in November, the theme will be Fall festival and we will have breakfast, lunch, live music, beer tent, and a family kid zone available for all participants.

BikeMS - Cycle to the Shore (2 day event)

TPC Sawgrass/ Marineland to Daytona

Bike MS: PGA TOUR Cycle to the Shore is a two-day fundraising cycling event from TPC Sawgrass to Daytona Beach and back. There are multiple one and two day route options ranging from 36 to 160 miles, all of which are well supported with fully-stocked rest stops, a lunch stop each day and safety provided by medical personnel, HAM radio operators, law enforcement and motorcycle escorts. Riders will travel along the beautiful Florida scenic coastline and finish day one with a beach side celebration on the Daytona Beach Boardwalk.

If you want to learn to fix a flat, reduce the chance of a repeat flat, deal with basic shifting and braking issues, sign up for LakeShore Bicycles' Roadside Repair Class. One of our technicians will help make you comfortable with these little inconveniences. You will use your bicycle so that you can practice taking off the wheels to replace tires and tubes. You will also learn about how to deal with minor problems with braking and shifting. Class will be at 6:00p.m. and cost $50. This class is free for anyone that purchased a new bicycle from LakeShore bicycles within the last year.
